Describe how the U.S. government either denied constitutional protections to persons, or used constitutional protections against the accused.
2)How did issues of nationality, ethnicity, and race play into the anti-communist movement? Was it the same everywhere, orwere these standards applied differently in different parts of the nation. Furthermore did the federal government apply ethnic and/or racial standards differently than did state and local governments?
3) How was the domestic and foreign anti-communist movement used in the arena of partisan politics? How did the parties use the anti-communist crusade against one another to gain influence?
4)How was public opinion shaped to fall in line with the anti-communist movement? What roles did government and media playin the shaping of public opinion? What different tactics were used to publicize the anti-communist movement?
In aIDressing these questions, students must use at least FIVE (5) specific examples from the book, with at least ONE (1) coming from one of the historical documents provided after the essay. When using these examples students must also insert citations, either in footnotes or endnotes. The citations are to be formatted in accordance with Chicago Manual of Style (see handout). The paper must beturned in at the beginning of the assigned class period in accordance with the format guidelines listed in the syllabus.
