global world
This week’s discussion will allow you to combine what we
learned about global marketing with the product you are using
for your marketing plan.
Assume that you are being sent to the country you were
assigned at the beginning of the module (no, you cannot
change) to market the product you are using in your class
marketing plan. (South Africa)
Considering everything we have learned so far about the
marketing mix, environment and other factors you need to
develop a plan to sell your product. Prepare your plan as if you
were giving a briefing to the staff that is coming with you. Thus,
it must be clear, concise and in professional business language.
Your briefing should include:
Will you standardize or adapt each of the four Ps in the
marketing mix. Why? Be specific.
Review each of the four traits in the Hofstede cultural index.
What should your staff be aware of regarding differences
between the US and your destination? Think carefully, you don’t
want to embarrass your firm or insult your hosts.
What is the country’s currency and exchange rate against the
dollar? Average income? What does this suggest about how
affordable your product will be for the average consumer?
Finally, list one thing that your staff should know about the
economic environment (what is important about the country – do
NOT use exchange rates or PPP). Also, list one “just for fun fact”
that your staff will enjoy knowing about their destination.
As always, college level writing is expected and if you use a
source be sure to give credit (it is not necessary to cite the
material directly from the course).
Product Description with Feature and Benefit Analysis
Problem
Serious dry skin conditions are an inherited group of disorders called
ichthyosis. This can sometimes be disfiguring and upsetting. Fortunately, most dry skin is
caused by environmental factors that can be at least partially controlled. These factors
include hot or cold weather, low humidity, and soaking in hot water. You can do a lot to
improve your skin, including using moisturizers and avoiding harsh, drying soaps. (1). Are
soap companies using harsh chemicals because it’s cheaper to produce? Are they more
concerned
with
price
than
overall quality?
Are
hypoallergenic soaps
really
hypoallergenic? What is it about these soaps that are so appealing to customers? People
who suffer from dry skin and other skin problems are really concerned about the
ingredients in the products they buy which means they would be willing to try something
like natural soaps. People want to buy a product that know won’t make their skin worse
but will help soothe it. There are many companies who claim they have the best products
for this health issue, but we can guarantee that our product will improve your skin and
overall health. We will be able to do this by appealing to those who have tried soap to
combat their skin condition by showing them our products are environmentally friendly,
natural/organic and quality products.
The name of my company is Botanical Gardens Exotic soaps. Our products are
designed with our bodies and planet in mind. No toxic chemicals or additives are used,
just natural and organic products. Our soaps are hand-crafted in small batches. They
are made with unrefined fats and essential oils that heal and nourish the skin. Shea
butter and coconut oil are the bases of our soaps which will aid in the lathering process.
They will also contain dried fruits, plants and therapeutic essential oils. Because our
products are health conscious, this will appeal and increase of customer base.
The definition of our product is quality and health benefits. This will attract more
customers and increase customer base. Our customers, are those concerned with quality
not quantity.
Botanical Gardens Exotic soaps are handmade with the best quality products, not
only in the oil base, but as well with the essential oils, that would add a great smell and
health benefits to them. Presentation is going to be one of our priorities, and would have
different designs, so we can deliver customize products to each one of our customers.
Would offer product satisfaction guaranteed policy.
Product functionality and Design
These soaps are going to provide three main components. The coconut oil base,
shea butter base and essential oils.
The coconut oil base is used not only for its health benefits but it also helps the
soap to lather. My research shows that coconut oil the best option for people with skin
disorders and their allergic reactions to other soaps that contain tree nuts. The coconut
is a member of the palm family and only distantly related to tree nuts (1). This means
that many people can benefit from using it, they won’t have to worry about an allergic
reaction and further irritation to their skin.
High concentrations of fatty acids and vitamins make shea butter an ideal
cosmetic ingredient for softening skin. Shea butter also has anti-inflammatory and
healing properties. Using shea butter on your body, especially your face, can condition,
tone and soothe your skin (3).
The use of quality essential oils would be one of the other components, for them
know benefits to the health. Therapeutic oils blend would be used in our soaps, to
improve the health benefits.
Botanical Gardens is going to be have multiple molds to offer customize designs
to our customers. Comprised of all shapes and sizes. We would also offer natural
additives to your creation like dried fruits and flowers to add a more artistic look.
