Can you help me understand this Sociology question?

We have been discussing the basic institution of any society: the FAMILY. This topic is fully covered in Chapter 11 in the text Sociology in Our Times, by Diana Kendall. It is from pg 318 to 346. The next two institutions we will look at are Education and Religion. We will consider these together: Family, Education and Religion. I asked you to reflect on what you read in last assignment and reflect on your own experience in family. We had a good discussion in class. Continue to think about these things concerning family but now bring in the experience of education, your own schooling, the culture it was in, and the role of teachers in your life, and teachers in general as far as their impact in society. Often teachers in the younger years and lower grades of one’s life journey become consultants and counsellors when there are problems at home. There are more complications in cases of adoption and the relationships involved. We have yet to consider more fully the terminology describing these relationships such as : monogamy, polygamy, polygyny, polyandry. These terms all relate to marriage norms, which vary from culture to culture. There are also terms that describe patterns of descent: matrilineal, patrilineal, bilateral. There are in modern western societies stressors that relate to blended families, family violence, incest and need for foster care, as well as new dynamics related to same sex marriage and adoptions in these situations. Reflect on your own experiences as well as questions about these new emerging family arrangements and the departure from traditional norms and expectations. Turn in your work on Monday November 25.
