THE AUDACITY OF VOICE
The roles of women continue to change over the course of time. Where women have
begun and where women are now is the reason, their voices continue to grow stronger. Coming
into the world as homemakers, child bearers and secretaries to running for president. Women’s
voices will continue to grow and be the change needed in the world as we know it. The goal is to
help you better understand the change that has occurred to help women get the confidence and
the voice they have today.
The 1960’s marks as the decade of change as birth control was introduced, and the values
and social norm began to be challenged. Birth control opened the door to freedom for some
females that didn’t agree with the expectations of the average woman. With the help of the
media and advertisements the traditional woman image lived on. Most females that were a voice
of change, were raised by the traditional household woman. Although they may not have wanted
to be an outcast themselves, some of the women taught their daughters to speak out and fight for
what they believe in thus creating and instilling confidence females carried throughout their lives
and passing down to their own. Not all women believed in the change that others taught and
kept the image of the housewife life for themselves and their own family no matter what the
child wanted for him or herself. As for the children that carried their dream of the kid of woman
she wanted to be when she grew up, whether it be the woman in the kitchen with the white fence
or the liberated woman who was in control of her own life started a change in their generation.
With confidence comes responsibilities and backlash. Although women pushed to work
specific jobs that didn’t portray them as useless receptionists, they knew they couldn’t stop there.
Women knew that they wouldn’t be seen equally even with the same job, and we still struggle

today with that same problem. With this only encourages people to speak up even more. As
generations passed it is important to make change and add value to what we believe in. Woman
cannot be heard by the men that run this country and that belief soon ended when all women
didn’t feel the same as others and began to speak out against each other. For the rest of time this
conflict will always arise because of the conflict of tradition each person was raised with.
Traditional values will continue to live on with certain families as others continue to raise their
children with more modern views and beliefs.
Generations will continue to be created and there will continue to be an advocate for each
generation as nothing is good enough because we all want better. What we know today is old
news tomorrow for the future generations. They won’t agree or be satisfied with what we are
today, and a voice will be created. A voice will always be necessary for the people for the start
of any generation because that marks the end of the last. Parents in each generation create the
next with their hard work and contribution to their career and work. Working to give their
children life that they either had or wish they had. In that, motivates people to speak out against
something or in favor of something, and giving them the tools, they need to make the change
they feel is necessary to them. Eventually this will create a generational gap between older
generations and new, keeping the fight alive between two sides of different voice’s because they
can not relate to the other. Therefore, the baby boomer generation sees the centennial generation
as disrespectful and rude and has no independence or discipline. Despite the differences there
was still that someone that thought they knew what was right for them and the future.
Each generation will have a person that feels they can make a change in any
direction for the good or bad, at the time It seems like the good and best idea for the future.

THE AUDACITY OF VOICE
It all started with the inspiration and encouragement of parents that were silenced for a
long time because of an image they thought they needed to be. Each generation is unique
and has a story of how they got to where they are. As the years go on there will continue to
be a voice more mature and helpful than the last.
