Minilab 1
Getting Horizon and Opening a Data Set
To successfully complete this class, you must have access to IBM SPSS or similar software.
UNCW provides access to IBM SPSS via Horizon. However, Horizon does not always work.
Therefore, to work around this fact, I would suggest utilizing a free trial period of IBM SPSS or
utilize PSPP. I utilize PSPP because my free trial of IBM SPSS is over and I cannot access
Horizon myself.
1. For this minilab, please download the software necessary to access the statistical software
you need to complete this class. The options are:
1. Horizon: https://uncw.edu/itsd/help/horizon.html
2. Free Trial of IBM SPSS: https://www.ibm.com/analytics/spss-trials
3. PSPP (Free): https://www.gnu.org/software/pspp/get.html
2. Once you have the program downloaded, please open IBM SPSS (any version that will open
for you) or PSPP. Note: If you have issues getting access to Horizon, I cannot help you.
You must contact ITS.
3. Open the minilab01-data.sav file
