Your organization has made it a goal this year to incorporate analytics more into its decision-making process. You are a new manager who is responsible for proposing, creating, and managing an advanced analytics department for your organization.

The executive team in your organization has tasked you with creating an advanced analytics department and then managing the department going forward. They expect a proposal from you for the resource and technology or tool needs of the new department. To create this proposal, you will need to consider the industry the organization is part of, the offerings of the organization, and the types of business problems the organization faces. Keeping these things in mind, create a proposal for your new advanced analytics department that will be presented to the executive team for approval and funding.

You may use the organization where you currently work as long as you are able to meet the requirements of the assessment. Alternatively, you may choose a company and industry you are interested in researching as long as you can fulfill the requirements of the assessment.

Prepare a proposal for your analytics resources:

Describe the company and industry.
Explain the types of problems the company faces (or will face in the future).
Identify the types of analytics methods that might be used to address the business problems.
Recommend analytics tools the organization should procure.
Develop a profile of the skills and competencies necessary for the analyst(s) you would hire to work in the new department.
