Pick one of the following topics to research & write a 1-2 page paper about. You must use supporting information from references such as your textbook and CREDIBLE internet sources (should be peer-reviewed journals, scholarly articles, etc.; please DO NOT use Wikipedia, simplypsychology, about.com, or other similar sites).  Your writing should reflect an understanding of the material as well as collegiate level writing and critical thinking. ALL WORK MUST BE IN APA FORMAT (includes citations & references).  Failure to cite may result in your work being viewed as plagiarism–this will result in a 0 for the assignment. This assignment is worth 10 points. 1. Discuss the prevalence of mood disorders in subgroup differences in prevalence rates (eg. Gender, race etc). 2. Describe criteria for diagnosing major depressive disorder and the subtypes. 3. Describe who is likely to attempt suicide and who is likely to complete suicide and why (provide prevalence among racial, gender, socioeconomic statuses, etc.).
