Hello Professor and classmates!

One of the beginning factors of had a huge impact on the growth rate of India was the partition of India and Pakistan (Nijam. 2017). Although there Muslims were the majority of this area’s population even though there were small groups of Islamic people scattered throughout the country lest us not forget there were also Hindu people among the Muslim and Islamic people. The Muslims did not feel like they were safe and this caused a mass movement of people. Because of this mass migration, there was a decline in the population of the new India and an increased population in Pakistan. There is still a great deal of tension and violence between India and Pakistan due to the assumed terrorist behavior of the Muslim people.

Even though lately India has seen a rise in economic growth there are still many people living within South Asia that are living in poverty. Other people are living in rural areas unaware of the modernizations that have been made in the cities. Education also plays a role in growth and population because the people who suffer from a lack of education are primarily women. In South Asia (India) women are more inclined to raise a boy than a girl because of the male gender being able to care for more things. A pregnant woman in South Asia now knows that she can have an ultrasound to tell her what gender the baby is. There are many women who will elect to have an abortion if they are going to have children because aa daughter is believed to be more of a hindrance than of help.

Hopefully, everyone is having an awesome week!

Hello everyone!

The reading this week put in perspective how India’s exploding population differs from the U.S. and Europe. One major reason is the development of India, over half of India’s 1.3 billion people are living in poverty-stricken areas. (Nijman) Living in an under-developed country can include poverty and lack of education. The overpopulation of India, therefore, causes undernourishment, poor living conditions, terrible education, and negative health. In the demographic transition model, it shows that there are multiple stages to population growth. Most developed countries like the United States have passed through the rapid population increase, and have leveled out. (Nijman) India started this stage in the 1950s and they are on the edge of leveling out. So because they hit this stage so late there economy took a told and that’s how their population began to suffer.
