Prof Hall and I are a little puzzled by some of the references you have been using. We are getting journals from Spain, Germany, Scandinavia, India, Thailand,
China etc. Some of you are using law journals, engineering journals, and political journals.
This class is a class that is based on women’s health in the United States. Journals from other countries are relevant to that country but do not apply to life in
this country.
Also, we asked you to use references based on science, medical science, not engineering science, political science, or legal science (if there is such a thing).
We understand that not all of you are from a science background. However, it was strongly recommended that you would have taken a biology and or
sociology class before taking this class.
This class requires that you go outside your comfort zone and embrace a different way of looking at women’s health and how to obtain reliable, science-based
information.
The short answer Turnitin assignments are meant for you to take a deeper look at relevant issues that apply to women in this country. They are meant to allow
you some freedom of expression and to help you find answers that you may not have considered important to the place women have in the United States.
Based on the above we have decided to give you parameters when using references. Below are acceptable forms of references:
Science based journals from the United States, Canada, or Great Britain. Nursing journals are very good.
The World Health Organization (WHO)
Science based websites from the U.S., Canada, or Great Britain. These websites can be from universities or other organizations such as American
Cancer Society, American Diabetes Association, U.S government websites such as https://www.womenshealth.gov/ , CDC, Pub Med, etc.

| also want to remind you that we check all of your references. If you use a book (other than your text) we have no way of confirming that reference. The same
for journals, we need to verify journals. They need to have web access, if not you need to attach the article to your paper or give us library access to the article.
Even though we specified no blogs in your grading rubric some of you are still using these websites as references. No blogs will be accepted even if they are
from a university.
One other reminder is that your posts are put through a similarity program through Turnitin.
Starting THIS week (2/25/19) only the above will be accepted for references.
