Many educational programs are provided within the curricular at different stages of a child. I have seen that the more complex education is provided as the child grows and develops.  Providing an environment early enough for the children who have not yet started going to school is beneficial to their future education as I have noticed through the Perry Preschool Project (Hohmann, 1995).  Looking at the success of Perry preschool program, it is best to say that the program has great benefits to the children. in reading further  about the project, I found out that the effectiveness of the program was further assessed on findings at the age of 27, for those who had gone through the program. They indicated a better life and performance for those who had undergone the program as compared to those who had not (Hohmann, 1995). The program has been deemed to be beneficial to preschool children.

It is a great need for the parents to realize that they can greatly promote the future learning and academic performance of their preschool children (Zero to Three, 1992). In reading the “zero to three” report, I leant that in promoting certain characteristics of the young children, they can perform better at school in the future. The important characteristics include curiosity, confidence, self control, cooperativeness, intentionality, relatedness and the capacity to effectively communicate with others (Zero to Three, 1992). In enhancing, inducing and promoting these important characteristics, I believe the preschool programs would play a large role in this as also indicated by the Perry Preschool Program and the zero to three report.  Building towards a “healthy social and emotional foundation for the learning and living” of the young children should begin early (Hohmann, 1995).
