The goal of these papers is to demonstrate your understanding of learning and conditioning,This is done by explaining information in your own words and by applying it correctly to the topic. Your target audience should be someone who has an Intro Psych level of familiarity with the basics of learning and conditioning but has not taken this course. Be sure to think like a behaviorist: Focus on the relationships between environmental events and responses. Thoughts and feelings are considered behaviors; they should be discussed as responses to the environment not as causes of behaviors.

Prompt: You are a restaurant manager whose prep and front line cooks are starting to have a lot of accidents. They’re becoming more careless with pots of boiling water and heated cookware and burning themselves, sometimes badly. As someone who studied learning and conditioning in college, you suspect that habituation might be at the root of this problem. Use two of the three models of habituation (opponent process, Wagner’s memory model, the neurobiological model) to explain the problem. That is, explain the situation using the terminology and principles of one model, and do it again using another model. Be sure to specify exactly what response(s) is/are habituating, as well as the stimulus that evokes the response. Then, use the terminology and principles of those models to create solutions and explain how or why those solutions should work. Your explanations and suggestions must be rooted in and display knowledge of the two theories of habituation you choose to use.
