Assignment Criteria: Students will develop a simple PPT that includes the following criteria: Introduce the author and include a picture or clip art that defines the author. (attachment included to summarize) Summarize why the nursing profession was chosen. (attachment included to summarize). Elaborate on two of the biggest lifestyle challenges faced while entering nursing school. Identify the biggest fears. List four struggles every nursing student understands. List four tips for future nursing students. Explain the most rewarding part of learning to become a nurse. Student’s will create the PPT, the presentation should include 8-10 slides total. For this assignment, this excludes the title and reference slide and no longer than 5-8 minutes. Be complete and concise. Use bulleted statements not complete sentences or paragraphs. Use APA format for PPT, which always includes a title slide, introduction slide, purpose statement slide, content slides, conclusion slide, and a reference slide. Resources found in APA Documents/Resources. One reference will be required for this assignment. The reference should be from a scholarly peer-reviewed journal and be less than five (5) years old. Include the Following Slides: Slide 1: Title-Develop a title slide. This should include the title of the presentation, student name, and the university name. Use APA format (does not need to be in Times New Roman for a PPT) Slide 2: Introduction-Briefly discuss what the PPT is going to address. Use bulleted format versus paragraph format Slide 3: Purpose Statement-Develop the purpose statement utilizing the assignment criteria above. Possibilities
I am a Nursing student who has been working in the banking industry for more than ten years. After years of just working, and no school, I made the life-changing decision to change careers because I want a better future. I graduated with an AA from xxxxx College which was pretty affordable, and now I am in my first semester at xxxx. One can wonder why the drastic career change at my age, I’ll get to that.
I was born in XXXX, where I spent most of my early childhood. Being a kid, living at the beach, and not having worries, life was great. My days consisted of school, homework, and playing at the beach until dinner time. I felt that happiness came to a halt when my parents took a leap of faith and migrated to the United States. Life suddenly became like a puzzle, learning a second language from instructors that only spoke English, staying alone, and taking care of my sibling because my parents had two jobs. I went to xxx and graduated in 2004. Right after high school, I started what I thought would have been my career as an Illustrator, but then I dropped out of XXX. I was working while in school and started to like more the freedom that earning money gave me back then.
During my late teens, I started working in retail, where I grew to be an Assistant Manager for XXX. I loved sales, advising clients, and interacting with different people. After years of long retail hours, at times getting home at 1:00 AM or 4:00 AM because of a floor move or inventory, I started working in banking as a Teller. Through the years and promotions, I got to where I am now, a Personal Banker II. My passion for sales has died after years in a sales environment and having to meet quotas, but I still enjoy helping others.
As one changes, so do technology. Eventually, my job will be done by a computer and not by a person; the word personal will be completely gone from the equation. One can see it already, as most major banks are pushing for self-service; the banking industry is losing the personalized human touch. I have always liked science and thought about the medical field, but have been too scared for such change. But here I am, pursuing a career as a Nurse. After years of no school and only focusing on work, I am back, working full time and school; I am currently in my first semester on the nursing program.
It is never too late to pursue a dream or something that was just left in the backburner because of fear, but with dedication and support, one can accomplish what one strives for. One just has to put full effort and try as best to the possibilities.
