I’m studying for my Psychology class and need an explanation.

I need a 4 page research paper Sociocultural Influences of Abnormal Behavioron. my research question is;

Are African Americans more likely to have increased symptoms of depression and anxiety than other ethnic groups due to religious coping methods and being opposed to seeking professional treatment? below i will list my research design, its not the best but its a start.

Research design

For my research topic, I chose to track 3, Sociocultural Influences of Abnormal Behavior. The reason why I chose this track because I am a huge believer in one’s behavior is based off what they’re exposed to and what they’ve been around in a social aspect. While reading the 3 articles that were given for the track I found came up with the social gap in the topic. Individuals who suffer from depression and anxiety come from all cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Studies have shown that religion and a positive social support has helped many patients who are suffering from depression and anxiety. With many different treatments plans it is shown that religious coping has a more positive effect on African Americans than European decent patients. Although European patients have a higher percentage of seeking treatment from professionals it is still unclear of what the best treatment for patients dealing with depression and anxiety.

Research design

For my hypothetical research I would get a small group of individuals based off race, so African American and European decent patients. I would then make sure they come from a religious background. Everyone would have to had suffer from a traumatic childhood disorder, or have a history of behavior disorder, such as PTSD, depression, Stress or anxiety. I then would ask each participant how to do they cope while having these issues? While interviewing I would also ask if they’re opposed to seeking professional mental health help due to their families believing God is the only one who is able to help you get through of what they’re going through? I would then conduct a survey on how they felt society such as family, religious groups and other peers impacted their decision on how to cope with behavioral issues.

When it comes to Ethical issues, I Would be very honest and truthful. Being from a very religious background I would be able to understand where many of my participants would be coming from. I would not be biased towards participants due to the racial and cultural and social economic gap. I would have all my participants sign a waiver of understanding, so they are educated on what my research is for and why it is needed. I will keep their data anonymous and give them full access to my research once it is complete. (American Psychological Association, 2017):
