Elevator speech Assignment

Panopto Video Instructions

In this course, you will use Panopto several times to create videos. While there are a few steps needed to use it, you cannot substitute another video platform (like Zoom, Youtube, etc.) because only Panopto allows you to show 2 different windows at the same time (just as you see in the lecture videos for this class).

If you have never used Panopto:

You will need to download the Panopto recorder onto your laptop to use it. Here is how:

1.Within the SWRK 5707 course, choose Panopto recordings from the left-side menu.

  1. Look for the “download recorder” link in the upper right (you might have to scroll over to see it).
  2. Click the link, then select Mac or Windows as appropriate.
  3. Open it to install it on your laptop.

If you have used it before, you still might need to click on the Panopto tile within Myslu.

  1. Go to myslu.slu.edu
  2. Go to the Panopto “tile” and click on it. That’s it!

Making your Hello video (class #1)

  1. Click on Panopto, which is in the left side menu.
  2. Create your Panopto video, which is saved in your personal folder (You automatically have a Panopto personal folder)

Before you record, check your settings:

  1. At the bottom of the window, be sure that “Source – Built in Display” is selected.
  2. The primary source (left side) should show you with your camera on and the appropriate audio selected.
  3. The secondary source (right side) should have “secondary 1” selected. (Even though you don’t have anything to show in that screen, I want you to include the secondary screen as a practice for the later assignment, where you will need to show something in that screen)
  4. The folder (at the top) should be your personal folder (in Panopto).
  5. Under “session” – Give your video a name (such as [last name] “Hello Video”)
  1. Record and save your video. (You can delete and re-do it if you wish as many times as you want).
  2. In the video settings, be sure to share the video with anyone in our class. That way, I can see it for review/grading, and the class or assigned partner can view it as well.
  3. Go to Module 1, the “Hello video” discussion board thread, and upload your video using the plug tool in the above tool bar.
