Introduction
Racial profiling involves use of ethnicity or race as the principle in criminal investigations and law enforcement. This arises from a misguided perception that individuals of a particular race are more likely to commit a particular crime than others. Police officers and other law enforcement personnel are the perpetrators of racial profiling. Their involvement is based on their observations rather than factual or the real situation. Such observations include, suspecting an individual is a drug dealer based on his possessions of expensive items, but live in a poor neighborhood. Such an individual from a poor neighborhood may also be profiled a criminal or having a criminal intent if found frequenting a rich neighborhood.
