Bio 1302 Unit IV Comment on what peer wrote:
One way that we as a society can lessen our impact on oceans and ocean life is to stop treating the ocean as a garbage can. The ocean has so much trash that people throw off their boats and leave on the beaches that it becomes clouded from all the garbage. We are suffocating the oceans of our planet, if you bring it take it. Another way we can lessen our impact is to stop the use of single use plastics. So many plastic water bottles and plastic bags wind up in our oceans causing harm to ocean life. I can stop the use of single use plastics by using a reusable thermal cup for water such as a Tervis insulated cup for water. I can also use cloth bags when I go grocery shopping instead of using plastic bags. I already incorporate these two methods in my daily life. I also have a water filter for my fridge and I use a filtered water pitcher instead of buying bottled water. The number one thing that we do to lessen our impact on the oceans is to be mindful of the things we buy like single use plastics.
