I have a proposed paper in which I will upload, it was critiqued by my professor who gave input on the proposal. Include the proposal as you see fit. His critique is below, try to find better references that pertain to urban development and focus on air pollution:

Be sure to provide examples of how each of the four modes of governance (networks, markets, transition management and adaptive governance) have been and/or could be used to aIDress the specific problem you are concerned with. You seem to have a start on this but it needs to be much more tailored to your issue of interest.

You have a good start on a list of references, but they do not necessarily seem relevant to urban development issues. Try to expand your literature search.

I have a paper in which needs major work but the resources are good. The feedback in which I received was below:

In general, the paper is not very well structured and is lacking a thesis statement to frame your subsequent arguments and the overall organization.

I think you need to be more explicit about what aspects of pollution you are focusing on and get to the point more quickly. You indicate that you will focus on urban air pollution, but you also mention non-urban and non-air pollution in several places. My suggestion is that you focus on a few of the major pollutants that affect human health and/or ecosystems in urban areas. You spend way too much time and space providing detailed background on different pollutants that may or may not be very important or relevant in urban settings. Grounding your arguments in specific examples and/or case studies would help to illustrate the impacts of air pollution and solutions that have been attempted to aIDress it.

Your discussion of the four modes of governance also needs to be more structured and prominent. You should be more explicit in your writing about what you are referring to in places (see my comments in the margin of the paper), and use sub-headings and headings to flag for the reader what you are talking about (don’t make them guess or search too much for this).
