Remember to include the following as a comment in each file:
A description of the program
Not including the required comments will result in a deduction of 15 points for the assignment (5 points per question). Java Exercise 2
Money Denomination
Write a program that prompts the user for a double value that represents a monetary amount.
The program should then determine the fewest number of each bill and coin needed to represent
that amount, starting with the highest bill.
For this problem, assume that a twenty-dollar bill is the maximum denomination allowed.
Samples of the output are shown below:
Output Sample 1:
Enter monetary amount: 47.63
That’s equivalent to:
2 twenty dollar bills
0 ten dollar bills
1 five dollar bills
2 one dollar bills
2 quarters
1 dimes
0 nickels
3 pennies
Output Sample 2:
Enter monetary amount: 136.91
That’s equivalent to:
6 twenty dollar bills
1 ten dollar bills
1 five dollar bills
1 one dollar bills
3 quarters
1 dimes
1 nickels
1 pennies
Tips:
Integer division and the remainder operator can be very useful here!
NFL Passer Rating
The NFL passer rating is calculated as
where a, b, c, and d represent the following terms:
a = completion percentage,
b = yards per attempt,
c = touchdowns per attempt, and
d = interceptions per attempt.
The formulae for calculating a though d are shown below:
where
ATT = number of passing attempts
COMP = number of completions
YDS = number of passing yards
TD = number of touchdown passes
INT = number of interceptions
With this information, you will write a program that:
asks the user for the name of a quarterback and
calculates and displays the NFL passer rating for that quarterback
Output samples of the code are shown below (note: your output does not have to match the
sample exactly, but the calculations should be accurate.) The first two samples use data in a single
game, whereas the last sample uses data for an entire season.
Output Sample 1:
Enter the full name of the quarterback: Jameis Winston
Enter the number of attempts: 35
Enter the number of completions: 22
Enter the number of yards: 345
Enter the number of touchdowns: 4
Enter the number of interceptions: 1
The passer rating for Jameis Winston is 121.72619047619047
Output Sample 2:
Enter the full name of the quarterback: Philip Rivers
Enter the number of attempts: 24
Enter the number of completions: 14
Enter the number of yards: 176
Enter the number of touchdowns: 1
Enter the number of interceptions: 2
The passer rating for Philip Rivers is 60.416666666666664
Output Sample 3:
Enter the full name of the quarterback: Tom Brady
Enter the number of attempts: 570
Enter the number of completions: 375
Enter the number of yards: 4355
Enter the number of touchdowns: 29
Enter the number of interceptions: 11
The passer rating for Tom Brady is 97.6608187134503
Tips:
Create as many variables as needed to ensure that the formula is clear to the compiler.
It is recommended that the number of attempts be stored as a double to avoid integer
division. All other data can and should be stored using the most appropriate data type.
Do not worry about the level of precision (i.e. number of decimal places) in the answer.
Distance between coordinate points
Write a program that prompts the user for two coordinate points (x1, y1) and (x2, y2) and
calculates the distance between them. The formula for the distance is
???????????????? = +(??. ? ??0 ). + (??. ? ??0 ).
Your code should encourage the user to enter the x and y value for each point one after the
other (in other words, one prompt, two values).
A sample of the output is shown below:
Enter the coordinates of the first point (put a space between the points):
4.5 8
Enter the coordinates of the second point: -2 7.9
The distance between (4.5, 8.0) and (-2.0, 7.9) is 6.500769185258003
Tips:
Craft your output statement carefully to create the proper coordinate format.
