I’m trying to study for my English course and I need some help to understand this question.

PART 1

For this assignment, we will be sharing a golden line from chapters 17, 18, or 19.

A golden line is the MOST important sentence for you in the text. In the margin, write why you think the sentence (or two) you identified is important.

To get full credit on this assignment:
1. Post your golden line using the quote sandwich method.
2. In about 5 sentences explain why this passage is significant.

PART 2

As you read The Distance Between US identify three/four important ideas, one/two challenging passages, one/two golden lines, and three to five important (or unfamiliar) words.

Make sure you’re selecting images from all the chapters!

Important ideas are pieces of information you believe are vital to the author’s message. In the margin, write any thoughts, connections, predictions, or questions.

Challenging passages are instances in the text where you got confused. In the margin, write down what about the passage confused you–was it the language used, the sentence structure, an unfamiliar reference, etc?

A golden line is the MOST important sentence for you in the text. In the margin, write why you think the sentence (or two) you identified is important.

Important words are words you think are important to the author’s message. Identify 5 and jot down a definition in the margin. Alternatively, you can identify unfamiliar words that you have not seen before or maybe you just forgot the definition.

Once you have identified these FOUR pieces, you will take a pictures of them in your book and upload them here. To get full credit, you need pictures of 3-4 important ideas, 1-2 challenging passages, 1-2 golden lines, and 3-5 important or unfamiliar words.
