Subject: The Looming Tragedy of Technology in our Campus

In General, technology has revolutionized our way of living, how we socialize, and how we view our community. At the college level, everyone can attest to the truth of the statement considering that they have interacted with technology in one way or another. Social media is one avenue that many of our students have established a virtual habitat and invest much of their time. While the latter has its benefits to the students, it has also accrued many negativities that seem to come in the student’s primary goal: learning. I think it is high time that more sophisticated measures are deployed to curb the emerging problems before they escalate.

The transition from high school to college used to be very challenging. Many students experienced social disconnect, anxiety, and even depression. However, with easy access to social life, which is augmented by social media, such encounters have greatly diminished. I want to echo the administration’s effort to introduce a social briefing segment during new students’ orientation. The part helps the student gain insights into how to network with others both live and on social platforms, enabling creation of live-time friendships. Establishing virtual gaming points within the campus has helped a lot in promoting socialization. The incorporation of class-based social media groups and other social has helped most of our students pursue positive social lives and boost academic performance.

Although much has been achieved in fostering a social environment within the campus, there seem to be unpatched loopholes. The administration has not considered the impact of social media on the students outside the campus or using technology alone. Several students who have access to social media have less motivation to join social platforms and therefore opt to perform related solitary activities. As a result, cases of social anxiety, depression, loneliness, low self-esteem are likely to found among some students

It has generally been proven that most of the activities involving technology use that are solitary may accrue negative psychosocial well-being and limit the sense of community. Most of the social groups and online chat-groups that are upheld within the campus are academic-related. The administration should push for the establishment of social groups geared towards solving personal issues and problems. The administration has also not set proper boundaries to prevent bullying cases and any tech-savvy activity that may interfere with the learning process. It is essential to establish sound policies that prohibit acts that may result in bullying or harm to the students. By so doing, it will be possible to avoid the impending technology risk within the campus.

Recommendation Report (R.R.) Assignment Overview
Your Dean has read your memo and has asked you to provide detailed recommendations on the ideas you suggested within your memo. Identify the problem or opportunity; establish criteria for responding to the problem or opportunity; determine your options; study each option according to the criteria; draw conclusions about each option; formulate recommendations based on the conclusions.
For the memo you all wrote a couple of weeks ago, you were asked to research and find an issue that negatively impacts student life at your educational institution. The task was to write a memo to the Dean of your particular School or College and make them aware of the situation and also propose a solution that would aid in eliminating or at least controlling this problem.
In the recommendation report, you will elaborate on what was proposed in the memo. Will your proposal require funds? Will there be a need to hire personnel? Where will the funds come from? How will your solution impact the students? If your school is aware of the situation and they have already taken steps to improve the situation, then explain convincingly why the current policies are not as effective. Research other Universities to see how they handled a similar situation. Important: Use your findings as evidence to support your claims. Cite your sources in APA format. Add attribution tags and parenthetical citations; also, cite the sources in the references list.
Using the subject/topic you wrote your memo on, further elaborate on the issue and provide a detailed recommendation report.
Below is a list of issues that was provided for the R.R. packet.
1. Sexual assaults on your college campus
2. Teenage pregnancy and young motherhood rates at P.V.
3. Mass shootings and gun control on your college campus
4. Increasing rate of suicide cases at PVAMU

the 6 to 8-page length required for the final draft will not include a copy of the revised
memo, Cover Page, Abstract, Table of Contents, and the reference list
NOTE: Counting of the pages will start past the Table of Contents, which will include:

To gather the most current information on the issues you discuss in these reports, you will need to do open research of different universities.
First, to show that the problem exists, do an open search to find news articles or reports showing the seriousness of the problem, and thus creating the exigency. Cite these reports and articles to show how bad the situation is.
Next, explore the PVAMU website and resources to see what is being done regarding the situation you are discussing. Cite examples of what is currently being done and then explain how these measures are not effective enough.
Make your recommendation to improve the situation. Do some more research and see what other universities are doing to handle similar situations. If what they are doing is more effective, use them as an example to support your claim/recommendation. Share multiple examples from different universities. However, make sure these examples share something that is working better than what PVAMU is already doing.
Look for numeric findings showing how bad the situation is. Or, use them to compare how different schools are facing and dealing with this issue.
If your recommendation will require monetary aid. Explain where the funds will come from. Here too, you can research and see how other schools are funding their practices. Use your findings to support your claims.
Cite your sources. Add in-text parenthetical citations and attribution tags. Also, list the sources in the references list (APA format).
You are required to use six sources for this assignment.
Citation
Cite your sources in APA style. Each source you list in the reference list should be used and cited at least once in the report.
Use the following link for assistance on How to Cite Websites in APA format
Format
Your report should be typed in 12-point Arial and single-spaced. Any tables and figures should be captioned appropriately and included on a List of Illustrations at the bottom of the Table of Contents.
Use full block method to format the report (everything should be flushed to the left).
Numbering your Document
When adding page number to your report, remember:
 The table of contents page does not contain an entry for itself.
 Front matter is numbered using Roman numerals (i, ii, and so on), often centered at the bottom of the page.
o The title page of a report is not numbered, although it represents page i.
o The abstract is usually numbered ii.

o The table of contents is usually not numbered, although it represents page iii.
o The body of the report is numbered with Arabic numerals (1,2, and so on), typically in the upper right corner of the page.
The items before the table of contents: the Cover Page, the Abstract (summary), and the Table of Contents itself, will be numbered using Roman numerals (i, ii, iii, iv, v, etc.), and the items followed by the table of contents will be numbered using Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, etc.). Using this format, you will number all the pages of your report.
You are not required to include an executive summary, as shown in the sample report. But, you will still include an abstract (summary).
Submission:
Upload a copy of your rough draft to the group discussion board on the course homepage, and then using the provided peer-evaluation sheet (posted on the course homepage), each member will evaluate one other report posted within the group.
I too will be reviewing your drafts. However, I will mainly be looking for format, in-text citations, the references page, and anything that overtly catches my eye, like contractions. The draft should meet length requirement.
Turn in your assignments as Microsoft Word or RTF documents only. Any assignment that I cannot open will be given a zero for not following instructions. If you do not have Word on your computer, use the computers on campus. Do not submit your assignment a PDF.
All assignments submitted for this class should be a new creation. Do not submit any work that you have already received credit for, in this class or another class, this semester or any previous semester, this institution or another institution. Check the Turnitin Plagiarism report before you make your final submission. Assignments showing a match of 40% or more will not receive credit.
Completion Grade: This is a completion grade assignment. The grade you receive on this assignment will not be a true reflection of your work. It will only indicate that you met the minimum requirements. I generally provide holistic feedback and some in-text comments on the drafts. Make sure you open your drafts, by accessing them through the gradebook, and read all the feedback you received.
While grading these drafts, my main focus is to see if you are moving in the right direction and if you wrote a well supported researched piece. Please be mindful that I did not mark all errors. Proofread your papers and take peer evaluation seriously.
Receiving a high grade, even a 100, on the rough draft does not mean that your work is flawless and that you do not need to make any corrections/changes. The grade only means that you have met the minimum requirements for the rough draft. Please follow all the instructions within the assignment prompt, and use the sample assignment as your guide to complete the assignment.
