Introduction
During World War II, the US lost 52 sub marines that went out in the Pacific Ocean but never returned again ashore. The navy registered the highest number of losses compared to the air and land forces. During that time, their arch rival was Japan, a country which was equal in naval technology and was proving to be a headache. After a revolution in the submarine technology, and advances in the design of the US marine warfare, the Japan army started incurring lots of casualties. Actually the turn around came about when the US Naval fleet at Pearl Harbor was attacked by the Japanese. Something dramatic was bound to happen in retaliation for the loss inflicted on US by a small country like Japan.
