SPC 3210 University of Miami Persuasion Interview Reflection Paper You will be offered two topics and will be able to choose any one of them to write your interview reflection paper. The two topics are due at different dates, and both topics require you to interview another person in your life. The paper should be at least 4 pages, double-spaced and use APA format.You will be graded on both the content of the paper and the style of your writing (grammar, punctuation, spelling, organization, clarity, conciseness, formatting, and other writing style issues all matter).For interviews, you may choose to audio or video record this interview, but all data must be destroyed by the end of the semester.Topic 1 Persuasion Interview: Think of a family member or one of your closest friends and solicit from that person a story in their life that they have never told you (or anybody). Throughout this interview, you will be prompting this person to disclose very personal information so please be prepared to use the skills from the class to persuade your participants. Please also remember to be kind, empathic and friendly during this interview. Reflection paper for topic 1 should include the story from that person (2 pages) and a review of the persuasion skills you use during the interview (2 pages). Topic 2 – Relationship Interview: Think about an intimate relationship you have right now (e.g., friendship, romantic, family) and the most memorable communication scenario from this relationship. Reflect on this communication scenario and think about the role your self-identity, perceptions, cultural background, and communication styles (e.g., verbal, listening, nonverbal) played (3 pages). Then interview the other person in this relationship and ask for his/her opinions on this scenario (you can also briefly share your reflection during the interview, 1-2 pages).The paper must include a minimum of three references from the textbook. As you write your paper, you should focus on making numerous references to concepts, terms, and ideas discussed in the textbook and during the lectures. I will evaluate your paper in terms of your ability to apply course concepts.All writing assignments must be your own original work. Turning in assignments that have been turned in for another class or for this class from a previous semester constitutes academic dishonesty and will be dealt with according to university policy.
