This is an individual piece of work
Students will individually research issues related to spreadsheet design in relation to the
the development of small scale decision support systems.
Each student will write a report outlining the theory which dictates best practice in
spreadsheet design, the type of errors that can be found in spreadsheets and the best
method for avoiding errors in the development.
The theory for this report primarily comes from topics 5 & 6 however you can include
theory from other topics if you believe it supports your argument.

1500 words (+/- 10%) not including tables, figures, reference list and appendices.
One mark will be deducted for each 200 words (or part thereof) under the minimum or
over the maximum word count.
Submission must be in MS Word format.
A minimum of 5 academic references (in addition to course readings) must be used.
Reference list and in-text references must comply with Harvard referencing style
Failure to show competency in the referencing method will result in zero for this
component of the assessment.
You must include a title page with student name, student ID number, course name and
appropriate title for your individual reflection.
Do not include a table of contents for this piece of assessment.

In this section you discuss the areas that you have researched. Subheadings should be
included to make the report easier to read. These areas should include, but not be
limited to, spreadsheet design, errors in spreadsheets (issues and how to avoid), decision
support systems using spreadsheets, best practice in design. (approx. 1000 words)
Recommendations
In this section you need to give a series of recommendations for best practice in
spreadsheet design for decision support system development. (approx. 300 words)
