By popular demand, attached please find the Unit 8 Assignment PowerPoint Slide Formatting Help slide deck. It is designed to help you see how to properly format a slide using the issue of “Preliminary Hearing” as the example of how you would want to present it in your slide deck.

NO, not every slide needs to have this much content, in fact, this is the most content you would include on one slide….most would have much less….30% LESS content on the slide.

Also included are 2 examples that students frequently make that are not correct and should not, under any circumstances, be done — and explanations why the examples are wrong.

Although it is stated in the slides, it bears repeating here — Do NOT worry about the colors, formatting, graphics that are included in my example. They are from another project I worked on and using the same set up simply allowed me to get you this content ASAP.

You will not be grading on anything outside of the substantive content you have on your slides.

…YES…you may use the content for YOUR preliminary hearing discussion.

Finally, below is the outline of slides I had when I did the assignment to see how it came out and make sure it could be done in the slide limits that were manageable. As always, you are not required to follow this outline, it’s just the one I used when I did the assignment.

Slide 1 — Cover Slide
Slide 2 — Pre-Arrest
Slide 3 — Post Arrest
Slide 4 — Investigation of Witnesses and Evidence
Slide 5 — Pre-Trial Procedures — Arraignment (First Appearance) & Bail
Slide 6 — Pre-Trial Procedures — Grand Jury
Slide 7 — Pre-trial Procedures — Preliminary Hearing
Slide 8 — Pre-Trial Procedures — Motions
Slide 9 — Pre-Trial Procedures — Motions — Continued
Slide 11 – Trial Options
Slide 10 – Sentencing (State, Statute and Punishment)
Slide 12 – Legal Terms (Legal terms used in above)
Slide 13 – Legal Authority (Case law referenced in above)
Slide 14 – Reference Slide

Hope this helps…..

Thank you,
Robert
