You have already written your proposal —AKA Paper 1 — where you tell me what you are interested in and what you hope to accomplish.

In your actual research paper (Paper 3) you should focus on opposing viewpoints concerning your topic; you should present the various sides of any controversy you find. You do not have to take a position on the issue though you may if you feel strongly about it.
For the paper you should cite and quote from the 4 articles you reported on for your annotated bibliography.
You will be able also to use readings we have discussed in class, such as Wilson and Miller etc. Include them in your works cited list if you have referred to them.
Your paper must have a works cited list. Please note that this is NOT an annotated bibliography!
Please note that any work you cite in the works cited list MUST be referenced in the text of your paper, either by direct mention in your text such as According to evolutionist John Smith or in parentheses after a reference (Smith).
Submit an accessible file (Word, Open Office, not a pdf) named after yourlast name and the assignment, such as “SmithPaper3docx”.

I will use the following chart to calculate your grade:

Organization: Introduction with focused research topic (explicitly related to evolution); paragraphs presenting findings from research in an organized manner; conclusion paragraph(s); and a Works Cited page.	25
Clarity and Content: You present your paper in enough detail that I can understand you. I know when you are referring to a source and when you are commenting in your own voice –I am not confused or mystified about who said what. Additionally, you present both sides of the issue you are discussing without coming to a conclusion about the issue.	25
Quotation: Your paper contains paraphrased and direct quotations from the sources chosen as support for the point(s) you were trying to make. Quotations are in context and demonstrate that you know how to use quotations to support a point. In other words they were introduced and commented upon.	25
Proofreading and format: The paper shows that you have a command of the customs and conventions of written English. All papers are double spaced, proofread, spell-checked, with your name in the upper left corner, and a title. Pages were numbered. Your works cited page, all of which referred to sources named in the text of your paper.	25
