World Wide Technology (WWT) is an American based technology company that was
established by David Steward and Jim Kavanaugh in 1990. The entity offers information
technology and supply chain resolutions to federal, state, and local government, among other
critical sectors in economies across the world. Other services and solutions that the firm provides
include supply chain management, professional services, and managed services, advanced
technology center for design and integrated architectural solutions, big data, collaboration, and
data center (Forbes, 2019). The companys supply chain constitutes of procurement and logistics
services that range from product storage and distribution, equipment enactment, and
configuration to just in time conveyance. WWT espouses lean techniques in offering supply
chain management services and offering technological solutions to distinct company needs.
The supply chain has become a vital element of organizational success due to its
influence on performance measurement and metrics. Through supply chain management
activities, organizations can harness their success and competitiveness by ensuring they
streamline this system to reduce operational costs and minimize wastages. Naturally, lean supply
chain management is one of the most effective ways that a company can espouse to optimize
profitability. Lean supply chains and lean production are intertwined since the former is
appropriate for lean manufacturing. According to Kovac (2013), lean supply chain minimizes
costs of operation and is designed to have minimal inventories in the system, minimal
warehousing space, and optimized shipments to reduce the cost of moving stocks. WWT
believes that companies can reduce their operational costs by simplifying the supply chain
system. The corporation helps entities accelerate global technology deployment by assisting
them to create effective supply chain management procedures to radically reduce the amount of

time it takes to get the right information technology products. WWT runs an effective and
efficient supply chain which is accomplished through the deployment of the right technology,
logistics, and information.
The firm believes for a supply chain to run efficiently, there has to be a proper flow of
information. To attain this, the company has strong partnerships with some OEMs and vendors to
move info along with physical goods, which dramatically reduce product lead time and enhance
predictability for its clients (Supply Chain Management WWT, 2019). Real-time information
exchange with various stakeholders in WWT’s supply chain ensures prevention of incorrect
deliveries and averts the existence of time-consuming reconciliation transactions. Being a
technology company WWT espouses the use of technology in supply chain management by
designing and implementing computer programs that enhance real-time delivery of information
within the supply chain network partners. Other lean supply chain activity that the firm provides
include the just in time shipping, which involves the delivery of materials or products precisely
when they are needed. By aiding in companies accomplish this lean manufacturing strategy
grants companies operational efficiency due to a reduced need for on-hand inventory, which
frees up space for core operations and minimizes inventory storage and handling costs.
WWTs lean supply chain management has helped several companies attain operational
efficiency. Despite enabling firms to achieve commendable milestones, WWT can improve its
lean supply chain network by implementing some or the entire lean tools. Usually, for
operational efficiency, the deployment of various lean tools is critical since they enable an entity
to ensure continual improvement. The first tool that WWT can employ is the value stream
mapping which is a lean management method of analyzing the current state of affairs and
designing a desired future state for the series of events that move a product or service from its

beginning through to the customer with minimal lean wastes (Chugani, Kumar, Garza-Reyes,
Rocha-Lona & Upadhyay, 2017).This tool helps a company understand its business better and
enhances process improvement. To implement this tool, WWT will map the series of events
involved in the current supply chain management and identify the areas it could leverage to
minimize wastage.
The second mechanism that WWT can implement is the continuous improvement tool,
commonly known as Kaizen. Despite the device being a lean manufacturing tool, it can also be
applied in the lean supply chain since it involves creating continuous enhancement based on the
notion that small continuing positive alterations can eventually lead to significant improvements.
It is based on collaboration and commitment and would, therefore, be an excellent tool for WWT
to espouse since its supply chain activities involve an array of partners. The final tool that is
applicable in WWTs situation is the elimination of waste in the supply chain. The tool which
identified eight residues that a lean manufacturing strategy could achieve has minimal misspends
applicable to a lean supply chain. The wastes which WWT could eliminate include inventory
which extravagance is emanating from holding excess products and materials. The Second waste
is motion, which involves the pointless movement of individuals, apparatus, or machinery.
Thirdly, is waiting involving people waiting on material or equipment or indolent equipment.
Next is staff skills which entail the waste of human potential by underutilizing their skills and
capabilities. Last waste is transportation that constitutes wasted time, resources, and costs
incurred during unnecessary movement of products and materials.
Goldratts theory of constraints (TOC) is a concept that was introduced in 1984 by Dr.
Eliyahu Goldratt. The approach is a method used by the management to reduce the number of
constraints and their effects on a particular operation (?im?it, Günay & Vayvay, 2014). The

concept, therefore, holds that there always exists one distinct restriction that limits the total
manufacturing output. TOC focuses its efforts, energy, and attention on bottlenecks that restrict
the entire system from attaining expected goals by systematically improving the constraint until
it ceases from being a limiting factor. It espouses the scientific approach to improvement and
constitutes of problem-solving and decision-making tools. Usually, the application of the
ideology is not restricted to manufacturing and can be adopted on running and improving an
organization.
Problems are an inevitable and continuing part of any organization with their existence
being a significant concern for the management since they can adversely affect its potential to
survive. The issues and their alternative elucidation establish elements of transformation around
which the organization must adapt. Since for a process or project to continue effectively,
hindrances must not exist, or problems must be resolved, improvements can be made on scheduling
and controlling techniques of a business. From the analysis of World Wide Technologies, it is
apparent that lean supply chain management is a technique that can significantly boost an
enterprises profitability due to its capability to minimize wastages. It was also evident that
collaboration, coordination, and establishment of partnerships the supplier network are vital.

Operation forecasting is a technique utilized by an institutions leadership in the process
of making plans for future operations. The management tool intensifies the ability of the
managers to forecast probable future uncertainties in the process of developing effective
countermeasures to alleviate the potential losses on the event the uncertainty occurs. According
to Lawrence (2016), operation forecasting promotes the capacity of an enterprise leadership to
cope with unexpected events in operations, based on historical and available current business
information. Forecasting aims at determining essential patterns, for instance, the sales trends for
a companys products and services. Nevertheless, the forecasting accuracy for future operations
of a business depends on various assumptions attributed to the management judgment,
experience, as well as the knowledge in mining data. Operations forecasting heightens the ability
of an enterprise administration to make accurate forecasting in a bid to make informed future
operation decisions.
Three Quantitative Forecast Method
In most cases, analysts use the simple moving average, exponential smoothing and the
weighted average techniques in the process of making a forecast on various institutional
operations. In comparison, the methods utilize recorded historical information to make the
predictions, essential in making supported decisions. In the process of forecasting the expected
sales of Mercedes Benz C-class in the US market in the year 2019, the three methods predicted
the expected sales in the year 2019 based on the sales figure available from the year 2010.
Notably, the simple method assumes 2-years moving average (MA), while the weighted average
estimated the forecast by applying the weights of 0.2, 0.3, and 0.5. On the other hand, the
exponential technique applied a weight of 0.5. In a weighted average, the highest weights apply

to the most recent sales figures in the prediction. Notably, the three methods of forecasting
indicated a forecast of 68.93, 68.87, and 69.46 for moving average, weighted moving average
and exponential smoothing respectively.
The Best Method of Forecasting to Adopt
The simple moving average technique is the best model one could adopt in the process of
predicting the expected number of sales for Mercedes Benz C-class in the American market in
my opinion. In addition, most enterprises prefer using the simple moving average technique due
to application simplicity. Notably, simple moving average allows equal weighting of the data as
opposed to other predictions models such as weighted average and exponential smoothing that
utilize different weights. Subsequently, the simple average method uses a simple formula that
involves calculating averages for a given period, for instance, three years in 3-years MA
forecasting. Simple moving average method intensifies the accuracy by minimizing forecasting
errors, unlike the weighted moving average and exponential smoothing models that apply some
weights in determining the predictions (Green & Armstrong, 2015). The applied weight depends
on the expertise and the knowledge of the analyst an aspect that increases the possibility of
making less accurate predictions.
The Influence of the Forecast on Mercedes Benz Corporation Based on Financial Metric
Prediction heightens the ability to determine the needed production units by a company
thereby intensifying effective determination of an enterprise financial metrics. This boosts the
ability to attain increased efficiency in business operations, leading to a subsequent improvement
in the overall business performance (Reid & Sanders, 2015). For instance, the prediction of
