One of the longest standing debates in science is the Darwinian Evolution and Creation/Intelligent Design (ID) debate (i.e. science vs. religion to some). For decades, proponents of each have argued for the existence of their respected theories. Both are fundamentally different, with one being grounded in scientific methodology while the other appears to masquerade as science. Despite this, both have persisted for some time with one side actually evolving (if you will) from previous forms. In this assignment, you will examine the opposing viewpoints: Darwinian Evolution and Creation/Intelligent Design (ID). As a starting point, you should conduct research on the scientific relevance of each viewpoint. Then analyze the argument between intelligent design/creation and evolution, identify biases that support one side or the other of the evolution-intelligent design/creation debate, and locate information that supports your position from the library. However, one thing you must also aIDress is the notion of whether or not Creation/ID should be taught as an equivalent or alternative to evolution in a science classroom. It will be your responsibility to organize and construct a well-written paper capturing the debate surrounding this long standing and often times heated debate between evolution and creation/ID.
Prepare a 3-page paper in which you:
State your position- based on your research in support of one side of a scientific argument or issue
Explain or illustrate the science that supports your position.
Counter the opposite position.
Summarize the argument and provide your interpretation.
