CASE STUDY
Is Swan correct in his assumption that the company could not be accused for anything?
In my own view in relation to the case study, Swan is not correct in his assumption that the company could not be accused for anything. This is because there are various problems noticeable in the company that he himself may not notice because of his lack of knowledge and understanding of the legal requirements and his very relaxed attitude to equal employment. These problems can be highlighted from the case study as follows: lack of HR policies, practices and procedures in the organization, lack of attention to equal employment matters, lack of a proper recruitment structure where almost all the recruitment and selection was done by the individual store managers most of whom had never received any training in selection techniques and, lack of an overarching policies that guided store managers when screening applicants and interviewing potential employees because according to the case study, managers were not aware that there were questions that should not be asked in an interview.
