Description (READ CAREFULLY):
Students will demonstrate and apply their understandings of current legal software by presenting/creating a
new legal software in the form of a brochure or other medium of their choice. (PowerPoint, poster, radio ad,
video ad etc.) Each Major Assignment must be completed by answering all of the questions listed in the
instructions.
Note: You are not expected to go into details that only specialists such as software engineers would know but
you are welcome to state anything about your product such as “will never freeze or slow down” without any
further back up. Using your introductory user experiences from the course, you may apply any positive
attributes from other software into this new product as well as functions that would solve issues that other
software pose.
Save your assignment as “Lastname – Major Assignment”. Submit to the corresponding drop box on
eConestoga by Wednesday, April 15th, 2020 at 11:59 p.m.

Instructions – Answer All Questions Below:
Using a medium of your choice (Brochure, poster, infographic, radio ad, PowerPoint etc.) you will produce the
following:
1. Create the name of your software (Can include your name or name of area of law – up to you.) 
for those who are tech-savvy, feel free to generate a logo as well but it is not required.
2. Purpose of the software  focus on a certain area of law(s) and speak to its usefulness and functions.
Remember that you are trying to sell this new software to the industry. What sets it apart from other
current software that you know of?
a. Can you store and manage your files on this software?
b. Can you generate different documents?
c. Can you auto-save?
d. Does it serve one or multiple areas of law?
e. Does it have any accounting functions?
3. Delivery of software  on-premise, cloud-based or hybrid?
4. Interface  How will this software look? Will it have large icons like PCLaw? Or more text-heavy
like Clio? You can use descriptions such as: simple and user-friendly homepage, buttons, neutral
colours, large text etc. If you are particularly creative and tech-savvy, please feel free to add an example
of what it may look like but this is not required.
5. Other Unique Functions 
a. Can your software be downloaded, installed or accessed on multiple devices (iOS and
Android/Mac and Windows)?
6. Know Your Competition  What does your software provide that your main competitor does not?
Does your software provide solutions to problems that the main competitor poses or fails to solve? (E.g.
does not lag, freeze or take up a lot of data space on computer etc.)
7. Other Resources  Does your software allow free trials for new users? blogs? help functions? live
help chat on their browser? free training? etc.
