This is a group-based assignment. You should form a group of 4 members from your seminar
group. Each group is required to upload a single report via your respective seminar group site
in Canvas. Please elect a group leader. The responsibility of the group leader is to upload the
report on behalf of the group.
It is important for each group member to contribute substantially to the final submitted work.
All group members are equally responsible for the entire submitted assignment. If you feel that

Decathlon opened their first stores in Japan and Vietnam, a superstore in the United States, a
retail park in Poland and a megastore in Singapore. In its expansion, it has to consistently keep
up with customers expectations and changing shopping behaviour.

Explain the role of supply chain management in Decathlons success.

Question 2
NuFer International manufactures fertilisers to be transported all over the world. It has five
manufacturing plants and sees demand from Africa, Asia, Europe, North America and South
America. Table 1 shows the annual demand from these regions, the production capacities and
locations of the manufacturing plants as well as the cost of producing each ton of fertilisers at
the plants. As can be seen from the table, the production costs are in the local currency of the
country where the plant is located, while the transportation costs from each plant to each market
are in U.S. dollars. The management has to come up with a production plan for the next year
based on the expected exchange rates in Table 2.
