The Great Depression was a decade long economic and social crisis that began in 1929 until 1939. During the Great Depression, millions of Americans were out of work, hungry, and homeless. When Franklin Roosevelt was elected president in 1932, he promised a “New Deal” that would relieve suffering and return America to prosperity. This assignment examines the human story of the Great Depression. You will search for photographs or artifacts (such as a lyrics to a song, newspaper article, etc.,) to present the experiences of Americans during one of the most difficult eras in our history. You will also provide a short descriptive caption for each photograph or artifact. Follow the instructions below: Instructions:   For each event, individual, or circumstance below, locate a photograph or artifact that expresses the human experience of the Great Depression. For each photograph or artifact, include a brief descriptive caption.   You may present your work as a PowerPoint, Word document or PDF (see the posted example). Create a format that works best for your information.   Research websites for photographs/artifacts. Historical detail and information may be found on websites, textbook, and other sources.   Create a cover page with a title and photograph that reflects the challenges of the Great Depression   Find a photograph or artifact for each of the following (focused on the Great Depression).
