Life & Debt is a documentary about a woven tapestry of sequences focusing on Jamaican stories whose their survival strategies and parameters of day to day existences are analyzed by the U.S. together with other foreign economic agendas. The movie talks about how most of the Americans have been bewildered by the protesters of anti globalization at recent meetings of the World Bank and the IMF. This documentary looks at the effects of the IMF on the Jamaican economy. The result of this lead to the destruction of the Jamaican agriculture industry, the end of Jamaica as a self sufficient economic entity, and also its conversion in North American market of goods and underpaid labor source. The film also talks about the complexity of international lending, free trade and structural adjustment policies that are only understood on the realities of the people whose lives are impacted.
