Evidence-based practice (EBP), originated in the health sciences and which has been adopted in a number of fields such as education and the social sciences. For example, according to Brice et al. (2005), evidence-based librarianship is:
An approach to information practice that promotes the collection, interpretation, and integration of valid, important and applicable user-reported, librarian-observed and research-derived evidence. The best available evidence, moderated by user needs and preferences, is applied to improve the quality of professional judgements.

• The justification for the areas that you select to work on for your personal development plan must come from evidence. This could include performance feedback you have available or gathered from your supervisor, colleagues, staff or clients, self-reflection and exercises completed in the text or the course materials, follower input, or development training feedback, self reflection, MBTI or TMS results, etc.
• Your analysis must be backed up with references.

• Your development plan should be in a table format with at least the following columns (see below). The plan should not read like a ‘business as usual’ position description.
