The report is on the analysis of fictional firm; Jacket-X’s IT infrastructure and it’s vulnerability that leads to the company making huge losses. The reports identifies three major sources of vulnerabilities in Jacket-X Company that include vulnerabilities in payroll systems, Vulnerabilities in Company’s network and the shortcoming in the policies enacted by the company in safeguarding its information systems (Mallery, 2009).

The Vulnerabilities available in pay roll system includes manipulation of pay roll system by the specialists for their personal gains such as creating of ghost workers in the pay roll master files, manipulation of the time spent by the employees in the company thus defrauding the company its resources (Howie, 2006).

Another source of loop hole in Jacket-X Company is the company’s network. The report postulates that the employees of the company connect to public networks that are sources of losses to the company. Public networks provide malware such as worms that can result to the employees being denied services thus losses to the company. The public networks also lead to the sensitive information being accessed by unauthorized persons who would manipulate the information for their personal gains (Tanenbaum, 2003). The employees of the company also lead to the company also abuse the assets of the company for instance there is a case where employees give his son the company’s laptop to use. The report also gives the recommendation that the company should adopt to mitigate the losses as a result of loop holes present (Jessup & Valacich, 2008).
