Introduction
Cultural awareness can be defined as the foundation of communication, and plays a key role in making people aware of their cultural beliefs, values, and perceptions. Cultural awareness tries to answer certain questions like how do we see the world? Why do we do things in that manner? Why we react in a particular way? Cultural awareness is very critical when interacting with other cultures. Individuals see, analyze and evaluate things in different dimensions. What is believed to be appropriate behavior in one culture cannot be accepted in another culture. When one tries to make some sense about the reality, other people may think differently hence leading misunderstandings (Samovar, 2013).
