Infections acquired within the hospital environment have been on the rise despite the fact that hospitals are supposed to be one of the most hygienic areas. There are various reasons and causes that contribute to hospital acquired infections commonly referred to as nosocomial infections which endanger the lives of patients. One of the most important staff in the clinical setting is the nurses who perform important duties with regards to taking care of patients and ensuring cleanliness is maintained within the hospital. However, sometimes there are problems with the schedules and way in which nurses work which affects their effectiveness. Generally, a shortfall of qualified nurses leads to a stressful working environment for the few remaining nurses.
