However, there is also a third type, gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) (Goroll & Mulley, 2009). From the name, it is easy to note that the condition affects women and only when they are pregnant. It is therefore important to understand the implications and clinical manifestations of this condition so that women and fetus may be protected from these effects.
