While Chapter 8 is focused on Introduction to Intimate Partner Violence including theory-based perspectives, Chapter 9 focuses on the Dynamics of IPV and explores power differentials in relationships. Take a closer look at Figure 9.1 Power and Control Wheel (p. 181 of your textbook) and Figure 9.2 The Equality Wheel (p. 182). As the book states, these contrasting figures allow us the opportunity to examine strategies for how perpetrators gain control over their victims (McClennen, Keys, & Dugan-Day, 2017).

For your Discussion Board, regarding power and control, answer the following areas:

1. What TWO aspects of the Power and Control Wheel reach out to you in terms of how a perpetrator gains control?
2. Compare/Contrast the corresponding aspects of the Equality Wheel.
3. As the practitioner, how could you apply the Power and Control Wheel and the Equality Wheel as a knowledge base tool in your interactions/interventions/treatment with your client?
