Fables and Fairy Tales Discussion Aesop’s Fables are probably the best known, and most widely read of all fables. The U S Library of Congress has collected many of them in an online book: The Aesop for Children. Don’t get turned off by the title–my father likes to say, “everyone grows older–growing up is optional.” Read through at least four or five different fables–aim to read a variety of different stories, or try variants of one type (all foxes, etc.)Write a short paragraph about what you see. What are the differences between fairy tales and fables (apart from the length)?
