Essay on proposing a solution for childhood obesity but specific to the San Diego area. Show how it is an issue, convey the impact on community use stats, etc. Please check out the Childhood Obesity Initiative plan specific to SD county. I have attached specific requirements from my professor and I have attached a sample paper as well. I also included what she is looking for in the introduction (storyline, hook grabber) and conclusion (memorable note). Paper 4 –Proposing a Solution
For your fourth paper you will be proposing a solution for a specific problem. You will want to start by clearly identifying a specific problem, discuss why it is a problem, and then propose a solution or solutions to the problem. The solution or solutions need to be a specific course of action that can be instituted by a local community, educational institution, organization, corporation, store, law enforcement or government. Once again you will need to find at least 3 outside sources to back up your claims.

Helpful Tips:
- Make sure your introduction sets up the problem and shows the severity of the problem ( if the reader doesn’t see how serious the problem is, they are less likely to care about a solution)
- Your thesis should identify the problem and clearly state the proposed solution(s)
- Being able to show instead of simply tell your readers the problem and the solution(s) is key in this paper
- Pick a problem that is less obvious so then you are the one generating a new solution instead of identifying already existing solutions
- Make sure you solution(s) is/are practical and can be implemented ( what is the purpose of suggesting a solution that has no chance of ever happening)

Outline of a Problem-Solution Paper
- Introduction
Problem is introduced and shown as a serious issue that needs resolution.
Thesis
- Examine the Problem
Give more specifics of the problem, such as the causes and effects, and reveal how what is currently being done is not working.
- Discuss Current Solutions
Discuss what is currently being done about the problem and why it is not working.
- Propose Solution(s)
Reveal a practical solution or solutions and show specifically how it is going to resolve the problem
- Address Counterarguments and Overcome Them
Acknowledge some potential arguments against your solution and overcome their argument by showing how your solution(s) ultimately is the best option.
- Conclusion
Come back to the severity of the problem and how your solution is the best answer. At this point you will want to really motivate your reader to see the possibly of change and how your solution is the way to achieve that.
