Classmate 1: The World Health Organization(WHO) is a agency of the United Nations responsible for public health. One of WHO’s principle’s is that it’s accessible. WHO rely on their ability to access the information they need to protect and improve health. Using the right mix of channels grants audiences the right information they need to make informed decisions. This is very important because it helps goals, decisions, and actions to be administered and accessed. WHO is also credible and trusted. WHO’s reputation is a key factor for whether individuals will take action on the organization’s guidance and advice. The more decision-makers that trust WHO, the more likely they will act on, the information given by the organization. WHO is the basis for health decisions. This is a very important principle because it helps establish guidelines that benefit healthcare organizations, patients, and our healthcare system.
Classmate2: The first principle: WHO shall treat data as a public good. According to WHO, “WHO shall make every effort to release data publicly and to share when safe and ethical to do so (WHO 2022)”. WHO will provide clear guidance on how data should be assessed, and transparency about how the data was collected, used, and shared (WHO 2022). This impacts the public health policy by putting more emphasis on health information technology, HIT, and how information is collected and shared. The second principle: WHO shall be a responsible data manager and steward. WHO stated:“WHO shall ensure that all data it produces are of consistently high standards that include transparent audit trails and common reference years, as well as being timely, accurate, comparable and (where technically and legally possible) accessible (WHO 2022)”.WHO will apply the international scientific data standards as a means to ensure the consistency in information that is released. This impacts the public health policy by creating initiatives that will aid in creating laws and policies that impact society (2021).
