Identity Development:

Part 1. Use the Identity Status Characteristics guide to help you identify the statuses of the individuals in each of the four case studies here Identity Status Case Studies. Use a short numbered list to identify each person’s status.

Part 2. Write a case study of your own (similar to the ones you read in part 1) that depicts a person in ONE of the 4 identity statuses. The case study may be motivated by an anonymous description of someone you know, or a fictitious character but don’t feel as if you must stick to their journey directly, you can take some license if necessary. It is more important to write an accurate example of the status. Make sure to include details that would require a reader to use critical thinking skills to figure it out. In other words, while it should clearly depict the status you are aiming for, there should be a few twists and turns in the story so that a reader has to take account of all of the details to make an accurate analysis.
