In this module, you learned about Constantines rise to power and his use of the Christian faith. Scholars debate how much this conversion had to do with faith, and how much it had to do with the practical desire to ally himself with a fast growing religion and use this to gain power.
Based on what you read about the state of Rome prior to, during and after Constantines reign, what do you think his motivations were? Do you think he was truly struck by belief in this new Christian God? Do you think he felt abandoned by the old Roman gods? Perhaps he simply saw this as a means to power.
