Current Event Psychology Paper

Task: The goal of this assignment is to find current events and research that relate to the concepts of psychology in Chapters 3 or 9 and practice applying the concepts.

Step 1: Read Ch 3 and 9 and use the resources identified below or other reputable resources to find a journal, or newspaper that demonstrates any concepts from Ch 3 or 9. Be sure all sources are school appropriate! Here are some resources that you can use to find articles:

• Psycport.com
• PsychCentral
• New York Times; Los Angeles Time in health section
• You can also use the school library resources to find sources (PsycINFO or Proquest).

• You can use other sources, but be sure they are reliable sources. Do not use blog entries or sources that reflect personal philosophies rather than scientific ideas.

• You will need to cite your source in APA format, so make sure it is a news article or research article.

Step 2: Using our psychology textbook (Ch 3 or 9), find concepts that relate to the source you found. Once you have determined the related concepts, identify the concepts and explain how the concepts apply to your source.

Step 3: Now that you understand a current event and how it is related to the concept, Create your own example to show me that you understand the concept. You must use an additional resource (book, journal etc.) to illustrate and support your example.

Step 4: You will write up your source and the related concepts in a 3 page paper.

Page 2: Connect your current event to a concept Ch 3 or 9
Page 3: Provide your own example of the concept chosen from Ch 3 or 9 (use 1 additional resource).

You will have 3 resources in total:

Grading Rubric for Paper worth 50 points total
15 points for your current event
15 points for your connection of the current event to a concept in Ch 3 or 9
15 points for your own example and the resource
5 points for organization, clarity, and APA style.
