I’m studying for my Law class and need an explanation.

Write a blog post of 500-1000 words about Canadian Criminal Law. Topics you may wish to consider include actus reus or mens rea issues in Canadian criminal law, criminal defences, homicide offences, sexual assault and non-consensual distribution of intimate images.

The most important thing is that you need to advance an argument. So if you pick one of the cases we talked about, why did you agree/disagree? What should have been done differently and why? If you pick a topic such as duty to rescue, you need to start with a hypothesis such as ‘Canada should introduce a duty to rescue’ and then use the blog to make a case. It helps to start with a research question and then hypothesis to guide your work, and think about how you will go about answering that question.

You will need to consult materials beyond what we have said in class so as to be able to make your argument. For example, if you wish to analyse/discuss one of the cases in more detail, you will need to at least read the full case. You should also read more broadly on the matter being discussed in the case in order to explain why you disagree. If you pick a topic such as the duty to rescue, you will need to read materials arguing for and against, in order to give a balanced account. I think you will need at least 2-3 external sources.
