Baha’i faith is thought to have been established by Mirza Ali Muhammad (‘Bab’ or gate in Arabic) in 1844. This establishment was necessitated by his proclamation to the effect that he was the greatest expression of God (Fisher, 2008). The Bab was thought to be a direct descendant of Prophet Muhammad; he also claimed to have been the ultimate fulfillment of all scriptures of major religions of the world.

The Baha’i faith’s fundamental goal is the establishment of a single super-state with Baha’i as the religion for that super-state (Fisher, 2008). This is the main reason why the Baha’i faith enjoys a close rapport with the United Nations (UN) which is another body that cherishes the idea of a unified world. The idea of a unified super-state devoid of ethnic, religious, and racial animosities may sound like utopia to many people, otherwise what can a pessimist say of the cessation of national rivalries, intrigues, and hatred and replacement of ethnic, religious, and racial animosities that characterize today world with cooperation and understanding at a point in time when the fulfillment of their goal(s) will become a reality. According to the Baha’i faith, at that point in time, the religious strife that has become common place in today world would become a thing of the past. The extremes of poverty and riches that dot almost all communities of the world would also have to pave way for economic, social and political equality and equity. Towards that end, the economic restrictions and barriers would have to be obliterated (Fisher, 2008).
