Executive summary
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has a banking sector that can be described as fragmented.
Currently, at least 46 domestic and foreign banks operate in the UAE. Foreign banks are very
active in the economy, and the sector is making significant efforts to reach global banking needs.
The central bank in the UAE is controlled by the Central Bank, which has made the country achieve
globalization and significant economic growth.
UAE today has the most dynamic banking industry in the region and as a result, made the
nation a financial center in the Middle East. The sector is also crucial for the economic growth of
the nation, and the nation has been able to meet the needs of the public. There are 52 commercial
banks in the UAE, in which 24 of them are National banks. 28 of these are foreign banks. The
UAE further has two investment banks, 24 finance companies, two wholesale banks and 20
investment companies.

Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank
Introduction
Just like the other businesses, banks benefit by earning more than their expenses. The Abu
Dhabi Islamic Bank is a bank committed to offering services that create value for its customers,
shareholders, the community in which it operates and its employees as well. The Abu Dhabi
Islamic Bank (ADIB) was established on May 1997 through the Amiri Decree No. 9 of 1997 as
Public Joint Stock Company. The bank became operational on 11 November 1998, and it was later
inaugurated on 18 April 1999 by Abdullah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the then Minister of Information
and Culture in UAE (AlQanea & Hamdan, 2017). The operations of the bank and all its contracts
are in accordance with the Islamic Shari’a principles. The core mission of the bank is to provide
Islamic financial solutions for all, and the vision is to become a top tier regional bank.
Global Project Management Framework
Many organizations find it challenging to reach the effectiveness and quality of global
projects because of the methods they deploy, the tools they use and their practices which don’t

The Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) is currently the leading Islamic financial services
group in the region and serves over one million customers across its distributed network. The bank
has 80 branches and 780 ATMs (Benlagha & Mseddi, 2019). The headquarters of the Abu Dhabi
Islamic Bank is in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). ADIB is globally present in 6 countries which
include Iraq, Egypt, Qatar, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Sudan and the United Kingdom (UK).
It is a bank that offers online services, mobile and phone banking services, and offers its customers
are able to digitally access their accounts 24/7. Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank has shown total
commitment to a business resilience program led by the senior management team.
Global Teams
In global project management, many complex projects are involved, and team members
are usually from different geographical locations and with different cultures. The practices
involved, therefore, need to be valid across the different countries and overcome the effects of the
