ADVANTAGES AND POTENTIAL DRAWBACKS OF INTEGRATIVE THERAPIES
Integrative therapy refers to an approach in which the therapist incorporates a combination of techniques in order to offer clients a broader therapeutic range (Integrative Counselling, 2013, p.1). This approach has a number of advantages as well as potential drawbacks. Considering advantages, one of them is that the integrative therapy provides the therapist with the flexibility to make sure the client experiences his or her personal journey. Moreover, clients gain from experiencing the integrative therapy since this approach sees the individual as a whole; not as portions of the same being (Integrative Counselling, 2013, p.1). It deals with the physiological, cognitive and emotional experience of each individual client and aims at facilitating the therapeutic experiences in which the client can have the knowledge about the reason for being the way he or she is and get to accept his or herself so that she or he can move forward (Integrative Counselling, 2013).
