Assignment Directions

• Complete reading assignment for Wednesday 10/30.
• Write and submit a short Word document (roughly 400 to 500 words, single or double-spaced) that fulfills the following prompt:
  • Based on the readings from DeParle, Dudziak, Kinzer, Coontz, Dicker, and Grandin, write a response that discusses and analyzes two or three out of the following five:
    1. The impact of the Cold War on the Brown v. Board case.
    2. The long-term impact of government-imposed housing segregation on African Americans.
    3. America’s post-WWII/New Deal “consensus” and the critics/criticism of this consensus (from Grandin).
    4. Issues surrounding gender (women in the workforce and/or women in the domestic sphere), feminist/women’s movements, the family, and/or suburbia
    5. The motivations, actions, and justifications for the U.S. coup against Mossadegh in Iran.
       • Note #1: Please use at least one quote from the readings to support your analysis.
